Miley Cyrus announced the release of her 10th studio album, titled Bass Persuades, on September 1.
In the music industry, build-ups usually span multiple months between an album’s announcement and its release. This time, Cyrus followed a different rollout style. Her album’s release on September 18 comes just 18 days after posting about the initial announcement on her social media account. Cyrus gave fans an early taste of her new album by releasing its title track, “Bass Persuades,” on September 4. Fans can now enjoy something new after her previous release came out in March for the Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special.
Cyrus began teasing this new era on her social media accounts at the end of August, while black-and-red pictures of her with cryptic messages also appeared on billboards in New York City. Soon after, the star dropped the family name from her social media accounts and took on the new username Miley. She previously shared her last name with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, who is also known for his acting role as Hannah Montana’s father. Billy Ray Cyrus was also Miley’s mentor and musical partner throughout her early career and told Variety that “family means more than ever now,” expressing his support for his daughter’s decision.
Bass Persuades is Miley’s first album under her new contract with Atlantic Records. This follows a 5-year deal with Columbia Records, where she released Endless Summer Vacation and Something Beautiful. Under Columbia’s management, Miley also took home her first Grammy Award for her hit single “Flowers,” winning Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2024 award show.
With this new musical era, Miley is returning to headlining performances. Alongside the announcement of Bass Persuades, Miley revealed that she will perform at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles for two nights on October 16 and 18, marking her first time headlining a show since her brief festival run in 2022. Fans have taken to social media to express their excitement and share their experiences trying to secure tickets for this limited-capacity event. Despite the Hollywood Bowl’s 35,000-person capacity, the Ticketmaster drop brought over 1.2 million people to the site.
This demand leaves fans wondering whether Miley will announce a world tour to accompany the album release, with rumors online of a potential Super Bowl Halftime show as well.
